Creation of a New Electoral Roll 2025

8 April 2025 - 8 April 2025

Creation of a new electoral roll

An electoral roll is the parish’s register of electors (just like the council holds a list for parliamentary/local elections).

Joining the church electoral roll means that you can vote on church matters and even stand for election at the PCC.

You can be a valued and active member of the congregation without applying but being on the electoral roll is a way of demonstrating your willingness to help shape the future of the Church.

Every six years a new electoral roll must be created and this is due now. This will be revised for five years before we do this all over again!

When a new electoral roll is created, everyone must come off the old roll and re-apply if they wish to be on the new roll. This is to keep it tidy – as not everyone notifies us when they leave the parish!

All reasonable effort will be made to contact existing members to advise them than a new application will be required if they wish to remain on the electoral roll.

To apply to be on the electoral roll, you must be baptised, a lay-person (not a vicar/clergy) and over 16 years old.

You must also either be resident within the parish or if you live further afield you must habitually attend public worship within the parish – the form explains this in more detail but please ask if you are unsure!

Anyone wanting to be on the new roll must complete an application form and return it to the Electoral Roll Officer or the Parish Office on or before Sunday 13th April.

Forms will be available at the back of church, or by email if you prefer.
