Latest news to share in the Parish

On Christmas Eve at St Paul's Brompton, the Grumpy Owl came to visit.

He was the main character in our outdoor nativity, based on the children's book, 'The Grumpy Owl and the joy of Christmas'. However the show was stolen by Mavis, the highland cow, Ickle the Shetland pony, and two beautiful sheep. More than a hundred adults and children were in attendance and had a great time, hearing in a new way the amazing story of the birth of Jesus 2000 years ago, an event that changed the world forever.
A huge thank you to everyone who came, and to all who worked so hard to make the evening happen. We hope you had a wonderful time!

What a joyful afternoon!
We had a truly wonderful time yesterday at the Open The Book Team Crib Service. Thank you to everyone who came along to share in the nativity.
A huge thank‑you as well to all who took part. You were fantastic: a joy to watch, full of energy, and you helped us explore the wonder of the Christmas story in such a simple, beautiful way. You reminded us all that:
Jesus isn’t born in a palace or surrounded by grandeur. He arrives in an ordinary place, to ordinary people.
It’s a reminder that holiness isn’t found only in perfection or extravagance — God meets us right where we are, even in the messy, humble, everyday spaces of life.
“The first Christmas was simple — it’s okay if yours is too.”

Thank You from Easby Christmas Tree Festival 2025.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and supported our Easby Christmas Tree Festival this year. It was a joy to see the church filled with laughter, light, and beautifully decorated trees. Together we raised an incredible £450 (and counting!) in donations on the day!
To our volunteers and cake makers – your time, energy, and dedication made the day possible. From setting up in the days before to helping throughout the festival, your efforts were truly appreciated.
To the organisations who decorated trees – your creativity brought sparkle and community spirit to the event. Working together strengthens us all, especially at this busy time of year.
To our raffle supporters – whether you donated prizes or bought tickets, thank you for helping make it such a success.
Special thanks to Brompton‑on‑Swale CE Primary School choir – your fantastic performance filled the church with joy, and we are grateful to all the families who came to support the children.
To Helen and Andrew – your beautiful performance of Christmas songs and carols was the perfect way to close the afternoon. You have become treasured friends of our parish, and we look forward to sharing these moments again with you and your loved ones.
We are so grateful for the way our community came together. Your support makes this festival not just an event, but a celebration of friendship, faith, and joy.

Turbo Sleigh Thanks from the Hub Café!

Well well well… Chaslong seems to have swapped their wheels this Christmas for a turbo Santa sleigh — and we were delighted to hitch a ride on that sparkling flying delight!

A huge thank you to Mark and everyone at Chaslong Aggregates, Brompton on Swale, for helping make our final Hub Café of the year such a joy. With your fantastic donation and support, we prepared 50 extra special Christmas Hampers with our team of helpers, for our Hub Café regulars and those we care for in the wider community.

Your generosity has also opened the door for us to offer a few extra warm, home‑cooked delights over the winter months… so watch this space!

Together, we’ve shared laughter, kindness, and festive cheer — proof that when community spirit takes flight, even Santa’s sleigh gets an upgrade.
